Cocktails inspirés de ma vie quotidienne

Betty’s Gimlet

Last week’s MAD MEN episode was AMAZING! It me laugh and it scared and confused me as well. I suspect that it will take me many more viewings before being able to understand fully what went on.

There was however, one thing that was clear to me, and that is, that Betty is back in her slim and blonde form. I am looking forward to what is going to happen with her now that her husband is running for office.

This week, I decided to prepare one of Betty’s favourite cocktails: The Gimlet.

Vodka Gimlet from The Unofficial MAD MEN Cookbook

2 oz Vodka

1 oz Rose Lime Cordial

Garnish with lime

I was not familiar with Rose’s Lime Cordial before. It seems that it is not very well known in Montreal either, because I had to visit eight different grocery stores before finding it.  There were other Gimlet recipes in some of the books I own, and they suggested the use of fresh lime juice and simple syrup, but I wanted to stick with the Unofficial MAD MEN Cookbook recipe.  I was beginning to think that I would never find it, and then I remembered PA , which is a little grocery store located downtown, that my friend Carlo mentioned a few times. I thought that I was going to take one last trip before giving up. Lucky me, PA had it!

A very sought-after after ingredient.

Thanks Carlo!

Merci Carlo!
