Cocktails inspirés de ma vie quotidienne

Blueberry Martini

Last week, I drove up to Lac-St-Jean to attend a family reunion. It had been years since I had visited the region, and I was very happy to see all of my aunts, uncles and cousins again.

One thing that Lac-St-Jean is known for, is blueberries.

I was hoping that I would have the chance to pick some to bring back home. Unfortunately, it was a bit too early in the season, as blueberries ususally grow in August, not July.

I was still able to find some precocious little berries ready to be sampled.

This handful is what I was able to collect during an afternoon spent at a cousin’s cottage.

On the way back home, I stopped at Perron, an old and famous cheese producer, who also sells different local products.

I was very much intrigued by this blueberry juice, so I bought two bottles: One to drink while I drove, and the other one to save for a cocktail.

Great taste and a source of polyphenol too!

I was impressed with the list of ingredients contained in the juice as there seems to be nothing else but blueberries.

None of my books offered a blueberry juice cocktail, and I did not want to Google it, because I thought I could very well come up with something myself. Here it it.

Blueberry Martini

50 ml blueberry juice

40 ml vodka

30 ml Triple Sec

Garnish with 8-10 blueberries

I froze the cocktail pick for a few minutes after having inserted the blueberries on it, as they became mushy and I really wanted them to retain their round shape.

An ideal way to end the afternoon!

La façon idéale de terminer un après-midi!
